The original concept started with a simple question:
"What would happen if BLASTER and SOUNDWAVE discovered the Wu-Tang Killa Beez?"
Everything spiraled from there.
The goal evolved into imagining what Cybertronian cassette warfare might sound like if intercepted through underground hip hop radio frequencies.
Even in the early '80s, the hip hop influence could already be felt throughout Transformers. Whether it was JAZZ and BLASTER kicking rhymes, or RAOUL talking graff burners with TRACKS while breaking outside the Dance-A-Tron with the BOP CREW, the culture was always lurking in the background.
But the biggest influence was the original series score.
Something about the G1 soundtrack always felt like it carried a hidden hip hop energy, waiting to be sampled, remixed, and alchemized into a new form of audio transformation.
Getting my hands on the complete score on vinyl was a childhood dream come true.
What happened next felt inevitable.
